Lifestyle | My new MacBook

Well today I thought I'd write a bit more of a personal blog post for today compared to the beauty side of things. Today, I bought myself a lovely little MacBook Air as a treat - a very expensive one I may add. However, it is well worth the money if anyone is considering purchasing one.

This little notebook has kept me occupied throughout the whole afternoon and now I am enjoying typing away my lovely blog post on it.

I find there isn't too much to say on this, however compared to my old ancient brick and a half of a laptop this is a very fast and easy to use upgrade.

I find it much easier carrying out tasks such as using my iTunes compared to on my old laptop and sound/video quality is much, much better.

Earlier on when I was playing around, I noticed the 'effects' section on the photo booth, and well, this happened ...

Enjoy your wednesday guys

Happy Blogging

Review | TRESemmé Shampoo and Conditioner

Tresemme

I want to do a review on this conditioner because honestly, I have tried out nearly every shampoo/conditioner you can get from supermarkets, and this is by far the best brand I've come across. They come in 900 ml bottles and are £4.69 each. These might seem pricey compared to what you'd usually pay for your hair products, however, my first two bottles have lasted me 5 months and I wash my hair every other day so you won't have to buy them too often. Also, nearly all the time, this brand has a promotion/offer which makes them even cheaper.

When applying this shampoo, you will find the consistency isn't too thick or runny and it lathers up well. It has a light fruity smell which will stay put in your hair even if you don't wash it every day.

One thing I found with cheaper conditioners is that they don't actually make your hair any softer but I find that this works well enough to de-tangle your hair easily. The conditioner doesn't make your hair look greasy at all but still gives it a sleek looking shine.

You can get different shampoo and conditioners regarding your hair type, examples would be:

  • Colour Protection
  • Deep conditioning
  • Smoothing
  • Strength
  • Dry
  • Gentle Cleansing
  • Moisturising
  • Volume
You can view their full range of shampoo and conditioning products here.

Mini Haul | Primark & New Look

Recently, I took a trip down to my local Primark and New Look. Now I must admit, I didn't buy much, 3 items to be exact. However, considering Primark doesn't have a website, I'm sure just showing what I got will save you time and effort in trekking around the store to find out the bargains.

If you want to have a browse at what is in New Look, you can check out their website of goodies here

When I was out shopping I was looking for more summer style clothes - skirts/dresses in particular. I wanted to stock up ready for the (hopefully) warmer weather coming to England.

I went to Primark first and I found a black, skater style skirt which I have been obsessed with. It can be worn high waisted or lower down on your hips however I prefer the high waisted look and I have been pairing it with fun bright coloured tops and tanks as the skirt is a neutral colour. It was a bargain at only £8.

I then found a top which says ' I moustache you to be mine'. I LOVE moustache gimmick items, I think they are really cute. One thing about the top is that it is quite sheer so you would possibly have to wear something underneath it. This top was only £4 and I really like it. It is something I would wear with a pair of shorts and vans.

When I was in New Look I didn't really find many items I liked - normally I have to decide on my favourites because I pick up too many things! I was browsing around and saw this lovely large black bag. I have a smaller version of this which has lasted me for the best part of 4 years now and its still going strong so I decided to buy this. I am using it as my everyday bag when going out whether it be shopping, college or work. It is so spacious inside and I can fit enough in there for every scenario without it getting too cluttered or heavy. It has an adjustable strap and multiple pockets and compartments for all your nick-nacks. I think the bag was reasonably priced at £17.99 and well worth the money considering it will last.

Review | EasyWax Roll- on from Veet

Confessions of a first time waxer.

The Easy Wax Electrical Roll-On from Veet is a product that I was sent to try out. This was sent to me by this company here which sends you out various products to try and review which you then 'Bzz' about. At first I was quite excited as this was something I had never used before. However, ever sceptical before I tried it out I looked up reviews online where I found a very 50:50 mix of opinions.

The kit that I received contained:

  •  The heating system device which comes with a lid
  • A stand to hold the device on
  • Electrical cable to heat up the device
  • 12 wax strips
  • 4 'perfect finish wipes'
  • Arms and Legs wax
  • Instruction leaflet

I was then gifted with an additional package which contained:
  • Bikini and Underarms wax
  • 12 wax strips
  • 4 'perfect finish wipes'
  • Instruction leaflet

My first issue with this product was that it did not take 20 minutes to heat up like it had claims to, instead mine took between 40-45. I found this rather irritating as it wasn't the fact that it takes said amount of time to heat up but that the instructional time was really far off the actual heating time. I tested this product out twice on myself and once on two other friends and every time it took approximately 40 minutes to be ready. My second dilemma with this product was that the 'perfect finishing wipes were not very good at all. I found them to not work post waxing and that they just created a greasy mess which made the clearly up process a lot more daunting. I think the idea of the wipes were a good idea however I felt they were non beneficial when I used them. My final issue with this product is the amount of wax strips it contains. I think every review I have seen has said this too but considering the you get on average 4 sessions with the wax, I think 3 strips per session is not enough, especially if you have thicker hair like mine you tend to use up the wax strips fairly quickly, even when re-using them.

Going with the phrase 'There's a Silver Lining to Every Cloud' I did find that this product worked well except for the odd stubborn hairs that just would not come out (ouch!). I found that I didn't need to remove hair on my legs for a good week or so which is a very nice change compared to having to shave every other day. I found that the holder that was provided in the kit came very useful in between waxing as it meant no carpet or flooring was ruined in the process. For some reason I had an idea that the wax would have some sort of off putting smell to it. In all honesty it smelt like a hot glue gun but it was not strong at all which I was pleasantly surprised with.

If you are interested in buying this product there is a 50% off discount code [ EASYWAX4 ] when purchasing the product from amazon here up until June 30 2013.

I'm not going to lie to you and say that it was painless, because compared to shaving it bloody hurt! But saying this, the pain was bearable and the results were good. I recommend you try this out if you already haven't because it actually is worth it if you have the pain tolerance and patience.

Happy waxing!

Review | Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

It is no surprise that I am talking about this foundation as it is one of those beauty essentials that bloggers rave about daily. I was in boots one day (one of the rare times I get off) and I saw this was on an offer so I decided to purchase it. The Match Perfection Light Perfecting Radiance Foundation retails at £6.99 and is available in both Boots and Superdrug. Available in 11 different shades I think this foundation is quite a versatile and approachable product.

This product itself is in the shade ' 100 ivory ' which I have found to be a perfect match for my current skin colour. This product also contains SPF 18 in it which for a high street foundation I think is quite the added bonus for the price you are paying. This product is packaged in a glass container and has a pump applicator which I find helps you to be able to know how much of the product you are using and how heavy it will apply to your face - I typically use one pump on an average day. One thing I immediately noticed about this foundation is the smell. It reminds me of sun cream your mum would slather on you as a child when you went to the beach or zoo.
I found that due to my dry/combination skin it made this foundation a bit controversial. When my skin is moisturised and smooth this foundation works like a dream. For a nice, flawless medium coverage it works extremely well for a drug store foundation. However, if at any point I had dry skin (tends to be my forehead and nose) then this product would make my skin look flakey and the dryness would stand out even more than if I was to not wear any foundation at all. I really have to find a good moisturiser to pair with this product to make it work to its potential, however, I am glad I have purchased this and I will continue to use it. I found that this product only really does a successful light to medium coverage and when trying to build into a heavier foundation it tends to give off a cakey look to it, however, that is personally for my skin type.

Tell me what you guys think of this product and how it worked for your skin shade/type?
